Alcohol prices: It's a bit rich from the vintners - I was in a hotel on Sunday and was charged €4.60 for a bottle of Coors Lite lager - the same bottle would cost me circa €1 in an off-licence locally.
They only want to protect these supernormal prices that they can get away with - but for how much longer? - Ray
I will form a picket line outside my local Lidl to protect my access to cheap Bordeaux (and suspect Dutch lager). - Steve K
They are being entirely disingenuous. When their own members package Dutch Gold in 13 for the price of 12 packs and distribute strong ciders such as Frosty Jack 6 per cent ABV in six-packs. Drink bought from a supermarket is evil - but it's OK if it's from a pub or off-licence! Give us a break. - James
Customer service
I think one of the first things that should happen is that "customer service" departments should be banned. Customer service is everyone's business - if I am parting with my hard-earned cash in a civilised manner, then I have the right to expect a fair deal from the seller, ie the person standing in front of me - not to be put through to voicemail hell, a call centre in a different country and maybe, just maybe, a real person whose job it is to go through the motions of rectifying my problem so that my call can be recorded for "staff training purposes" or, worse still, as the banks are now doing, to "confirm" information that is given in the call (ie to be used against me at a later stage) . . . Okay, I feel a rant coming upon me now . . . time to lie down . . . - Annette
