Plastic bags in Dublin Airport:To be fair to DAA, this plastic bag charge has been rolled out in lots of European airports. How long were the DAA expected to pay for the extra staff to dole out bags? It's about time they stuck them in vending machines.
I agree, the price could be lower, but I for one am looking forward to the impact this will have on security queues. It should speed them up considerably if you have to arrive prepared. If airlines wanted to, they could choose to have bags at the check-in desks which they could dole out themselves. Here’s an idea: buy a clear plastic washbag with a zip and reuse it. It’s kinder to the environment.

How's this for an ingenious plan: bring your own bag and then you won't have to buy one in the airport. – Jonathan
I wouldn’t describe it as a “ridiculous restriction”. I know it’s a bit of a pain, but it at least makes me feel a bit safer. Plus it is only €1 after all, and I’m sure the bags are reusable.

Tesco price cuts
The Government has done nothing to protect Irish jobs in the food industry, and now they have let the third-largest retailer in the world totally dominate the smaller and more vulnerable local Irish producer.

If Tesco stores south of the border offer UK prices, is this just creating a problem for retailers outside this soon-to-be UK shopping zone? Where does it all end? Instead of going to Newry to shop, I’ll go to Dundalk, but I’m still migrating my spend away from Dublin. Local store managers in the periphery of the border counties will not be happy, surely.
