THE NEW FRUGALITY? Here in the States our economy is in a major slump.

Our costs for daily necessities are skyrocketing. Our shops are hurting because people are spending less on frivolous items. If you add in housing costs and unemployment we are teetering. Personally, my grip on what money I have is so tight, it pleads for its life in my hands. - Jennifer Ohashi

I was brought up to save for what you want. There were those who spent money they didn't have by using a credit card and paying off the minimal. There was also the keeping-up-with-the-Joneses brigade. And now the ship has come in and they will blame everyone else for their woes. If saving for something instead of using a credit card is being frugal then I am all for it. - Alan

I have become more frugal but, rather than feeling guilty when I splash out, I feel great! How sound am I eating out in an Irish restaurant and helping them keep their doors open. - Ró
