Comedians back release campaign

Some of Britain's best-known comedians performed at a show in aid of a campaign to free a convicted IRA bomber. Eddie Izzard, Jeremy Hardy and Rob Newman were backing the cause of Gilbert "Danny" McNamee, who is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence.

He was jailed in 1987 for conspiracy to cause explosions, including the 1982 Hyde Park killing of four members of the Household Cavalry.

His supporters claim new evidence has come to light since his Old Bailey trial which proves the 36-year-old physics' graduate from Crossmaglen, Co Armagh, is innocent.
