TWO PREMISES in Dublin and one in Mayo were served with closure orders last month by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) for breaches of food safety legislation.
Closure orders were served on Da Dong Bei BBQ Restaurant, 101 Parnell Street, Dublin; Twenty Four K Limited, 141a Parnell Street, Dublin; and Station Road Deli (butchery area), Station Road, Ballina, Co Mayo.
Closure orders are served by environmental health officers where there is, or is likely to be, a grave and immediate danger to public health due to food practices or conditions at a premises.
A popular Dublin bar was among two businesses served with prohibition orders by the authority.
Sheehan’s pub on Chatham Street, Dublin, and Keoghs Traditional Bar, on Longford’s main street, were both served with orders.
Prohibition orders are issued if food-related activities such as handling, processing, disposal, manufacturing, storage, distribution or selling food involve or are likely to involve a serious risk to public health from a particular product or item of food.
The effect is to prohibit the sale of the item, either temporarily or permanently.
Details of closure orders served on food businesses are published on the FSAI’s website.
