ABB Transformers, one of Waterford’s oldest factories, ceased manufacturing operations at its plant yesterday following an announcement last June leading to the loss of 178 jobs.
The company said at the time the plant was “unviable due to significantly lower orders” and also cited a lack of potential business in the markets it serves.
A number of staff will continue to work at the plant at Tycor in the coming weeks as part of winding down operations.
