Washington - Democrats, still reeling from their defeat in the disputed presidential election, were fuming yesterday about the scandals that have made ex-president Bill Clinton a potentially crippling liability.
Mr Clinton's pardon of fugitive Marc Rich and the gifts which the Clintons accepted as they left the White House are drowning out congressional Democrats.
"It's a nightmare. An absolute (expletive deleted) nightmare," said a Democratic congressional aide, who insisted the vacuum helps President Bush push his agenda.
