BRITAIN: A scuffle broke out yesterday at the Manchester polling station for Iraqi citizens between Iraqi Kurds who had come to vote and a group of around 60 anti-Coalition protesters.

About 200 demonstrators were chased by another group who burned their flags, while other Iraqis clashed with police. Oldham Athletic manager Brian Talbot was also attacked after his car became stuck in traffic near the disturbance. The skirmish was described by Greater Manchester Police as a "minor disturbance".

The protesters, who were mainly of Pakistani origin, gave their organisation's name as Hizb-Ut-Tahir.

Organisers of the election for Iraqis abroad said about a quarter of a million Iraqis abroad, or 90 per cent of registered absentee voters, cast ballots. - (PA, Reuters)
