LONDON - The former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Runcie, has allegedly confirmed to the author of a biography that a "large" percentage of Church of England clergy is homosexual. Serialisation of the book begins in today's edition of the Times, which claims that the archbishop tried to suppress it after reading the first draft.
In a letter to the author, Humphrey Carpenter, Lord Runcie wrote that he was"not enthusiastic" about its revelations and that its transcription of his "burbling" interviews made him wince.
