Grozny - Chechen officials said their forces had retreated yesterday from the village of Goragorsky, a strategic outpost to the north-west of the Chechen capital Grozny, after fierce fighting overnight.
The Chechen President's officials said Chechen forces had retreated 78 km from the village.
