The Dublin publican who was shot outside one of his premises, the Goat in Goatstown, at about 12.30 p.m.on Monday was still receiving "intensive treatment" in St Vincent's Hospital, Dublin, last night.
Mr Charlie Chawke was shot in the leg by two armed raiders. The two men made off with the weekend's takings from the pub but were apprehended by unarmed gardaí at the Stillorgan Heath housing estate, Upper Kilmacud Road, shortly after the raid.
At least one shot was fired at officers before the men were arrested.
Mr Chawke had already handed over the money to the raiders when they opened fire on him. He sustained a serious leg injury and lost a considerable amount of blood. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. A hospital spokesman said he could not confirm Mr Chawke's location for "safety and security reasons".
Two men in their 50s, with last-known addresses in Finglas and Tallaght, were last night still being held for questioning.
