THE Governor of Massachusetts, Mr William Weld, who led a trade mission of American business people to Ireland, told Northern politicians that renewed peace could lead to a multi-million dollar job-creation investment in the North.
Mr Weld, who met leading Northern politicians in Belfast yesterday, said the absence of an IRA ceasefire was "sidetracking" American business people from investing in the North. He told Mr John Hume of the SDLP, Mr David Trimble of the Ulster Unionist Party and Mr Gerry Adams of Sinn Fein, in separate meetings, that a new ceasefire and inclusive talks involving Sinn Fein were required to restore American investment confidence.
Mr Weld also announced a "sister city" business agreement between Boston and Belfast, geared towards creating new business investment alliances.
