Cavan county board chairman George Cartwright has attacked the decision of the GAC to host this Sunday's Fermanagh-Meath SFC qualifier at Clones Park.

In a strongly-worded statement, he slammed the committee's decision to bypass Kingspan Breffni Park.

"It is a slur on the venue and on all involved in the GAA in Cavan. The county board has spent close to Eur3m upgrading facilities at the venue in recent years," he said.

"It is obvious that certain elements in the GAC are contriving to bring every game in the Northern half of the country to Clones. Sadly, it appears they are being allowed do so by other members of the GAC, he added.
