Detectives in Co Monaghan were yesterday investigating an incident in Castleblayney in which two cars that were parked at the rear of an industrial complex in the town were targeted by one or two gunmen.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged. The windscreens were blasted and considerable damage was also caused to the interior of both vehicles, which were unoccupied.
No one was injured in the incident, which happened in the early hours of the morning at the industrial centre, a short distance from the main Dublin/Derry route.
