A case against a former GAA official, who faces 75 charges of alleged sexual offences against children, was adjourned at a sitting of the District Court in Ballybay, Co Monaghan, yesterday. Charges against the man, aged 66, who cannot be named for legal reasons, relate to incidents involving 11 girls and boys over a 20-year period between 1958 and 1978.
When the case was called yesterday Mr Roger McGinley, appearing for the accused man, said they were awaiting the outcome of an application for a judicial review in the High Court. He understood a High Court hearing on the matter was arranged for November and he sought a further adjournment until December.
