PARTS of Dublin would face a ban on traffic under proposals to be put forward by the Green Party when the new £100,000 Air Quality Management Plan comes before Dublin City Council in December.

Mr John Gormley, a Green councillor, said yesterday that his party would be calling for particular attention to pollution from buses, as well as restrictions on cars. "Dublin's air quality is deteriorating at an alarming rate and the primary cause of this is city centre traffic", he said. Other European cities "have invested in clean public transport and have created car free areas in the city".
