A young Irishman who tried to smuggle drugs through Cardiff International Airport has been sent to a young offenders' institution for two years after he appeared before Cardiff Crown Court. He was caught when he reported the luggage missing.

Christopher Dowling (19), whose Irish address was given as Stand House Lawns, Newbridge, Co Kildare, hid cannabis in his luggage on a flight returning to Britain from Spain. However, on his arrival at Cardiff, his baggage could not be found and it was eventually traced to Teeside Airport, Middlesbrough.
