Tokyo - The three candidates hoping to be Japan's next prime minister yesterday made their commitment to bringing the country out of its worst postwar recession as they formally registered to contest the nation's top job.
Foreign Minister, Mr Keizo Obuchi, the political veteran, Mr Seiroku Kajiyama, and the Health Minister, Mr Junichiro Koizumi, filed their candidacies for the presidency of the ruling party, which virtually guarantees becoming prime minister.
