Tyrone captain Peter Canavan was last night voted player of the year at the Ulster GAA All-Stars presentations in Armagh.

Canavan, hoping to recover from an ankle injury in time for the All-Ireland final showdown with Armagh, was one of seven Tyrone players voted for by the public.

Ryan McMenamin, Cormac McAnallen, Philip Jordan, Sean Cavanagh, Brian Dooher and Eoin Mulligan were the other Red Hand stars to be honoured.

Five Armagh men made the team with Aidan O Rourke, Kieran McGeeney, Paul McGrane, John McEntee and Steven McDonnell included. Donegal corner back Noel McCready and Down duo Michael McVeigh and Brendan Coulter complete the 15.
