Ottawa - Canada initially has frozen about CAN$150,000 in assets in accounts held by those suspected of having links with Osama bin Laden, a senior official in the finance minister's office said yesterday.

Last week the minister, Mr Paul Martin, said Ottawa adopted new measures to prevent the financing of terrorist activities and established a list of individuals and groups believed to have committed terrorist acts, allowing financial institutions to freeze their assets.
