Young addicts should be forcibly detoxified in extreme cases where the person's life was at risk, according to a report presented to the Eastern Health Board last night.
The report by the Child Care Advisory Committee also said there is a need for clarification on the position of agencies providing needles, condoms and methodone to under 18 year olds without parental consent. It also recommended a service targeted at young pregnant women who are abusing drugs.
