Washington - The Texas Governor, Mr George W. Bush, edged further ahead of Senator John McCain in the key state of New York and seemed on course for a "Super Tuesday" triumph, a Reuters-MSNBC poll showed yesterday.
Twelve states are holding Republican primaries tomorrow, with 588 delegates to the Republican National Convention at stake. Mr McCain looks strong in New England, where five states are voting. But without a win in New York, there would be little point in his continuing the campaign. The following week, six southern states are voting, and Mr Bush would be expected to sweep them all.
