Unemployment in Britain has fallen for the second successive month, this time by 5,000 to 947,200, during the month of February.
The Office for National Statistics said the claimant count jobless total - which counts those signing on for unemployment benefit - was now only slightly above the record lows hit last summer.
The February jobless rate fell back to 3.1 per cent, the same as last year's lows.
The figures suggest the British economy may be starting to create jobs again after a downturn late last year swelled dole queues, albeit briefly.
The internationally comparable ILO measure of unemployment, ticked up by 8,000 on the previous three months to 1.53 million, although its jobless rate was steady at 5.1 percent. That measure attempts to capture those out of work but not claiming benefit.
