British police investigate death of five-year-old

Police investigations were today continuing into the suspicious death of afive-year-old boy in Britain.

The youngster was found at an address in the Leith area of Edinburgh at about8.30 a.m. yesterday.

Lothian and Borders Police was alerted following the discovery of an injuredwoman on the pavement outside the address, believed to be New Bell's Court.

Police said the woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Yesterday, neighbours at the New Bell's Court apartment block in theup-and-coming Shore area of Leith, said they had been told by police that awoman had fallen from a top floor flat.

Mr Francois Vilmot, a local barman, claimed police said three police andforensic officers were working around the scene at the entrance to the apartmentblock at 10 a.m."They must have been there for a very long time because they came round toask me questions at maybe 3 p.m.," Mr Vilmot said.Police said no further details about the incident would be released at thisstage.
