LISBON - One workman was killed and seven seriously injured when a section of the Vasco da Gama bridge collapsed into the Tagu's River yesterday, writes Jill Jolliffe.
The 18 km bridge, Europe's largest under construction, is being built for Expo 98, due to start in the Portuguese capital in May 1998.
