A 14-year-old boy appeared at a special court in Lurgan RUC station yesterday charged with burglary and possessing shotguns on September 4th. An RUC detective constable stated that when arrested, charged and cautioned, the defendant, whose identity cannot be revealed for legal reasons, made no reply.

The defendant was remanded in custody to a young offenders' centre to appear at Craigavon Juvenile Court on September 9th. During cross-examination by a defence solicitor, the police witness agreed that the alleged offences were not terrorist-related.
