A new book on Limerick's commercial history is to be published this autumn.
Made in Limerick, Volume II, is being co-authored by New Yorker Ms Debbie Jacobs and Lincolnshire history graduate Mr David Lee. It is being funded by Limerick Civic Trust in association with FÁS and Shannon Development.
The book will outline the industrial change Limerick has gone through over generations and how the flour mills, bacon factories, tobacco industry and clothing trade have been replaced by a new order.
Made in Limerick Volume I is already available in the shops.
Both authors are based at the Limerick Civic Trust headquarters and are accessing material from a variety of sources including local libraries, interviews, photographic work and the Limerick Leader newspaper. "Potentially a book such as this can be boring, but we got public praise for the first book for its readability and content," said Mr Lee.
