Spectacular preparations are well underway for Gay Byrne's last Late Late Show on May 21st and word reaches Quidnunc that the veteran presenter is hoping to have Tony Blair as his star guest. It would be the first time a British Prime Minister appeared on the show and Blair is understood to be enthusiastic. He will be well briefed to avoid falling for Gay's soft persuasion and following in the footsteps of the unfortunate Peter Brooke whose rendition of My Darling Clementine in January 1992 when seven building workers were killed in an IRA bomb in Co Tyrone ended his career as Northern Secretary.
