Bid to boost black vote

Black voters have the power to swing victory in 100 seats, campaigners claimed yesterday.

Operation Black Vote (OBV), which campaigns to boost the low level of voting by Britain's ethnic minorities, yesterday unveiled a poster campaign in Vauxhall, south London, using a photograph of an all-white House of Commons in session earlier this year.

The accompanying slogan read: "Spot the black MP. This is what happens when black people don't vote."

"The black vote is a sleeping giant and we will be awakening that giant," said Mr Simon Woolley, OBV's co-ordinator.
