Paris - Doctors treating French film star Jean-Paul Belmondo for a stroke said yesterday his condition remained stable following an emergency overnight transfer to Paris from the Mediterranean island of Corsica.
The 68-year-old actor, who shot to international fame as a crook in Jean-Luc Godard's Breathless movie in 1960, was rushed to St Joseph's hospital in Paris on Wednesday night.
The hospital issued a statement last saying Belmondo was in a "stable condition". "Tests are continuing in order to establish the precise impact and to permit optimal treatment," the brief statement said.
