A 19 year old man who was in custody accused of the man slaughter of the Belfast teams player Gareth Parker (23) was released on bail yesterday.

A lawyer for Mr Andrei Shoukri, of Westland Way, Belfast, told the High Court the accused regretted what had happened and if he could only turn the clock back then he would gladly do so.

The tennis professional, who was based in Dublin, died in hospital on Tuesday after being on a life support machine since the incident.

Mr Gary McKenzie (24), from Halliday's Road, Belfast, who is charged with assaulting Mr Parker's friend, Mr Thomas Williamson (23), was also granted bail.
