Six firemen had to be treated for shock after coming under an air gun attack on the outskirts of west Belfast last night. The crew was dealing with a car fire at Aspen Walk in the Twinbrook area when they came under attack.

As the crew were at the scene two teenagers arrived, one of them pulled out a pistol and began firing at the officers. No-one was injured but the incident was condemned by Assistant Divisional Officer Gabriel Ferguson.

"To be looking down the barrel of a gun is something we are not used to and we don't want this to happen again."
