WASHINGTON - A former beauty queen has sued the Sultan of Brunei, alleging she was essentially a sex slave for the Asian potentate, the New York Post has reported.

The paper says Ms Shannon Marketic (26), accuses the Muslim monarch of drugging her and sexually abusing her after she flew to the tropical nation as one of his $21,200 a week guests". The suit in US federal court claims the former Miss USA was promised a promotional job but was instead held against her will for 32 days last year in the sultan's 1,788 room palace as part of his "harem", the Post said.
