A Dublin woman, now working as a barmaid in England, told a court yesterday that customers there viewed a scar on her arm as some sort of association with the IRA.
Ms Suzanne Bennett (26) told Judge James Carroll in the Circuit Civil Court she was injured in the Lucan Spa Hotel knight club when a waitress "dropped a tower of empty pint glasses.
Ms Bennett, formerly of Arthur Griffith Park, Lucan, but now living in Ipswich, Suffolk, said her right arm received a two inch gash and she had to have six stitches.
She told her counsel, Ms Sunniva McDonagh, customers who saw the scar made remarks about bomb making and membership of the IRA. She had also been refused admission to discos and night clubs because of the scar.
Judge Carroll awarded her £10,000 damages against Lucan Spa Hotel Ltd and Frank Colgan Investment Co Ltd.
