Banners Alluding to Ireland

The British in Peking rubbed their eyes this morning when they woke to find banners hung across the streets declaring in English: "Ireland is no longer the slave of Britain" and "Let Ireland be represented in China." "To hell with British passports."

Unfortunately for the organisers of this latest anti-British effort, a few early risers actually saw uniformed Chinese police of the Japanese-sponsored Chinese Government hanging up the banners.

While there seems to be no doubt that this effort has been made by the organisers of the Japanese-sponsored anti-British movement in China, its object is puzzling.
