Philippine prosecutors have asked the impeachment court trying
President Joseph Estrada to subpoena records from seven banks where they say Mr Estrada and three mistresses keep accounts.
The prosecution made the demand in several motions filed with the Senate impeachment court but Mr Estrada's lawyers opposed the move, saying the documents were irrelevant.
Prosecutors have said they will be able to convict President Estrada on the basis of bank documents which will supposedly show the president has amassed wealth far beyond his declared assets of 36 million pesos (over £850,000).
The movie actor turned politician will be removed from office if convicted on any one of four charges - corruption, bribery, betrayal of public trust and culpable violation of the constitution.
He has denied all charges.
Hours before the trial went into its 22nd day, police defused a bomb planted near a train station. No one was injured. On December 30, a spate of bomb explosions in the capital killed 22 people and wounded more than 100.
