British Airways is set to announce a fresh package of savings which unions fear will lead to the loss of up to 3,000 jobs.

The so-called business transformation plan was being unveiled and was being explained to staff at face-to-face meetings.

Managers were explaining how the cuts will affect areas of the business and all employees received a letter from chief executive Mr Rod Eddington.

It is believed that no figure was be put on the scale of job losses, but unions feared that thousands of posts will be cut, on top of 13,000 recently cut as part of last year's "Future Size and Shape" project.
