The chief executive of Concern has been presented with the Agricultural Science Association distinguished member award at the organisation’s annual conference at the weekend.
Taoiseach Brian Cowen presented the award to Tom Arnold for his contribution to the profession of agriculture and to the agriculture and food industry over the past four decades. From a farming background in Lusk, Co Dublin, Mr Arnold worked for the EU, mainly on aid programmes, for 10 years.
He was a member of the Commission on Taxation and was also appointed by the Government to the Hunger Task Force. Last year he was appointed a member of The Irish TimesTrust.
