DHAKA - Bangladesh's Awami League gained a much needed majority in parliament yesterday in a move that could clear the way for the party leader, Sheikh Hasina Wajed, to head Bangladesh's new government. The league gained a majority after an MP elect from a radical party joined their ranks. The Awami League is now expected to win the 30 additional seats reserved for women after emerging as the single largest party in the June 12th elections with 147 seats out of 300.
