A Belfast college and the body that runs Ulster camogie have been criticised in the latest report by the North’s Comptroller and Auditor General.
The handling of accounts at Belfast Metropolitan College, which has an annual budget of £45 million (€54 million), was “unacceptable”. It was criticised for submitting late accounts and for a consultancy bill that could top £2 million.
Referring to the Ulster Camogie Council, comptroller Kieran Donnelly reported that between 2000 and 2008, £48,502 was paid to the body by the sports council.
“Of this, £14,754 has been deemed irregular because UCC were unable to provide evidence of associated expenditure.”
