Arsonists targeted a home in Limavady, Co Derry, last night with a gas cylinder in what is the latest arson attack in the town.
In the attack on the house in Collessan Walk, the culprits propped the cylinder up against a coal bunker before setting a fire under it.
A man escaped injury in the incident. A police spokesman said the metal canister failed to explode because it was empty.
The incident, which occurred at 4am, is the latest in a spate of more than 70 arson attacks in the town this year.
