Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva has started legal action against former club Atletico Mineiro for unpaid wages and other debts, his agent has said.
The agent of Gilberto, part of Brazil's World Cup winning side earlier this year, said: "He wanted to come to an agreement because Gilberto has a lot of affection for the club. But it just didn't happen.
"Among other things, he barely got 50 per cent of what we should have got paid for his transfer to Arsenal." Financial details for the transfer at the end of July had not been released by the club.
Club president Ricardo Guimaraes however told the Brazilian press they had honoured their part of the deal but that Gilberto was now making new conditions.
