Armed raid on Edenderry post office

A spokesman said two men armed with handguns and wearing motorcycle gear and helmets, entered the rear of the post office at around 9.05 a.m. as staff were sorting post. One of the men is also thought to have been armed with a knife.

The men forced staff to open a small safe and are believed to have gotten away with over €3,000.

The men made their escape on a motorcycle which gardai believe had an Offaly registration.

Although staff were threatened during the robbery, no injuries were reported.

Edenderry gardai are appealing to anyone who may have noticed two men acting suspiciously in the area of the post office today or yesterday to contact them on 0405 - 31290.
