An Arklow schoolgirl has been reunited with her family after being missing for six days.

Gardaí found Michelle Murphy yesterday evening drinking with a number of acquaintances in a Dublin city centre pub. She was taken to Store Street Garda station and later collected by family members. A spokesman said she was safe and well.

Michelle went missing from her home last Tuesday and was last seen by a family friend on Thursday in Basin Street in Dublin. She was with some older youths.

A spokesman for the Garda Press Office confirmed that she had entered Store Street station early last Wednesday morning, saying she had lost contact with her friends and had no money. She was allowed to telephone her mother in Arklow.

She then agreed to wait for her mother to travel from Arklow to collect her later that morning, but when her mother arrived, she was gone. It is understood that gardaí on duty were not unduly concerned for her safety at the time, as she was not reported as missing until later, when her mother arrived.
