An American woman and her Spanish husband today freed after two days of questioning by the Kenyan police investigating anti-Israeli attacks in the city of Kikambala.

The woman, Ms Alicia Kalhammer, of Florida, and her husband Jose Tena, of Madrid, both said they were "fine" after they left Mombasa port police station.

The couple had been detained on Thursday while trying to check out of their hotel, several miles from where an Israeli-owned hotel had been bombed in Kikambala shortly beforehand.

Kenyan Internal Security Minister Julius Sunkuli said the couple would be released but four Somalis and six Pakistanis were still being held for questioning.
