Irish telecom services group Alphyra has signed an agreement with Dutch prepaid mobile operators BEN and Telfort for the electronic distribution of prepaid cellular codes.

Under the agreement Alphyra will distribute the prepaid cellular codes of both companies electronically via its European network infrastructure and terminals base using its e-voucher solution.

Ben has approximately 1.3 million customers. Almost 675,000 of these subscribe to its prepaid mobile phone service. Telfort’s customer base is more than 1.3 million strong. Together, both companies account for over 23 per cent of all prepaid customers in the Netherlands.

Following the agreement, Alphyra will become the first service provider in the Benelux region to go live with electronic recharging for prepaid consumers.
