The boss will have completed his review of staff performance by Tuesday, the day before the Dail resumes, and although his conclusions are confidential Quidnunc has learned all are safe in their jobs for the time being.
In other words, despite some trepidation when all 14 ministers were summoned to the Taoiseach's office over the Christmas break to give an account of themselves, there will be no reshuffle. The final three Ministers will present themselves for their two-hour interview on Tuesday. As with their colleagues, they will turn up with their junior Ministers and senior officials and after detailing their actions and their departments' achievements since the Government was formed in June, they will be questioned on problems, failures and future plans. ("Grilled", Quidnunc has learned, is too harsh a word to describe the occasion).
Priorities will be discussed with much emphasis on the promises in the Programme for Government, because the Taoiseach is anxious to ensure all commitments to the public are met. Future legislation will be debated and the Ministers' intentions for the coming 18 months laid out. The exercise will be repeated during the summer break.
