A passenger overturned a trolley and threatened to hit an air hostess with his shoe on a transatlantic flight, Dublin District Court has been told.

Jean Robin (68), a French-born US citizen living in Astoria, New York, pleaded guilty to assault, intoxication and abusive behaviour shortly before the flight landed at 5.30 a.m. last Saturday.

He had become frustrated when he was refused more alcohol and overturned the trolley in anger. Garda Chris Elliot told the court he threatened to strike the woman but was restrained. Her knees were bruised by the trolley. Mr Terry Lyons, defending solicitor, said his client was embarrassed by his behaviour.

Judge Miraim Malone ordered a medical report and remanded Robin on continuing bail to February 13th.
