Washington - Without rich countries' foreign aid programmes over the last 30 years the world would probably have 500 million more people, and be "more crowded, more polluted and poorer," the US government aid agency said yesterday. This would be largely because international family planning programmes would have been unavailable to tens of millions of couples, the Agency for International Development (AID) said in a report.
