The President, the Taoiseach and representatives from other state bodies will attend a ceremony this morning in hour of Irish men and women who have died in past wars or on service with the United Nations.
Relatives of the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising from the Republic and the North will also attend the National Day of Commemoration ceremony.
The ceremony begins at 11.30 in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin, with a multi-faith prayer service. It will also be attended by representatives of the Council of State, the Diplomatic Corps, the houses of the Oireachtas, and the Judiciary, as well as the next of kin of those who died on UN service.
